Tweak says, "Were you any good?"
The powers granted to her by Zeus are essentially those of a demi-goddess: super strength, supersonic speed, reflexes, durability, and the power of flight. Despite the physical, Cassie often also relies on her mental abilities to think her way out of situations, as well. She is sometimes considered more "worldly" than her peers, since she hasn't been fighting crime long and she had more of a chance for a normal childhood than they. Since her mother is an archaeologist, Cassie has been raised to be a very intelligent individual that often allows her to see through ruses and mis-directions. She generally wears two arm guards designed to deflect bullets. She can also speak, understand, and read all human languages.
For the most part, Cassie Sandsmark is a typical teen girl...or she used to be. She has a passion for adventure and excitement, and enjoys being a super heroine very much, though as she's grown up, she knows now that there is a certain amount of duty and responsibility that goes along with the job. She strongly believes in doing what is right, and in maintaining a certain level of responsibility due to the powers she has. In her early days as Wonder Girl, she was a little more shallow and sometimes had trouble focusing on things that were not entirely normal. She enjoys trips to the mall, salon, and just spending time with her friends.
As is common with many teens, Cassie has had to work hard to build up her own self-confidence. She doubts herself at times, even if it isn't visible to others, particularly when she's put into a leadership position, though she also maintains an awful lot of bravado in the face of danger. She doesn't shy from dangerous situations, and isn't afraid to call out someone (friend or enemy) who she believes is seriously messing up; while she may worry about her own abilities, she'll do what she needs to in order to get the job done, and while trying to not sacrifice her own ideals.
While Cassie does want to one day be an archaeologist, she takes being a superhero very seriously, and wouldn't want to be any other way. She loves saving people, though it surprises her a little to discover she's a role model.
Generally, Casandra is a cheerful girl who tries to make sure others around her happy as well, and hides her doubts from others. There have been occasions when her indecision in a fight has led to stalemates or to someone being hurt, and she tends to beat herself up privately about that. Her feelings for Conner grew over time, and his for her have helped to boost her confidence, but after losing him, she faced an ongoing struggle to keep the team together. Each time she loses someone on one of her teams, she takes it to heart, and fights to keep them all together when she can.
Cassandra also harbors secret fears about disappointing her mother, and not living up to her father's example. After all, he's a genuine god, and she still has human weaknesses and desires, but tries to make both of them proud.
Cassie was born to Helena Sandsmark, an archaeologist who often worked with Wonder Woman, and, unknown to Cassie for most of her life until her teenage years, Zeus. Most of her childhood was normal; she performed well in school (actually liking it somewhat), and while not the most popular girl in her class, Cassie was friendly and well-liked. As she entered her teenage years, Cassandra began aiding Diana (Wonder Woman) in some of her adventures. But her first adventure as a true superhero came when she put on the gauntlets of Atlas and the sandals of Hermes in order to fight against Doomsday, who had attacked her mother and Diana. She was later given the opportunity to request a boon from Zeus, and asked for real superpowers, which he granted. Cassie's mother had a strong dislike for daughter's desire to be a hero, and through Zeus had the ability to turn off and on Cassie's powers. However, she rarely used this ability, realizing that her daughter was born to be a superhero and help those in need.
After her powers came into fruition, Cassandra began her training with the Amazons under Artemis to better use her powers and abilities, and looked up to both Donna Troy, the first Wonder Girl, and Wonder Woman. Donna gave Cassie one of her former costumes, but the teen was too afraid to ruin it, and thus didn't wear it. Artemis believed that Cassandra shouldn't waste her time being a superhero; instead, she wanted Cassie to focus her time and energy in training with the Amazons and defending Wonder Woman's palace. The teenager defied her, however, and accidentally revealed her identity to the public, leading her to begin using a brunette wig, which also paid homage to her idol, Donna. Thus began Cassandra's crime-fighting career.
This crime-fighting career eventually leads to her meeting Superboy (who she was already half in love with), and she joins up with "Young Justice" to fight crime and save people with several other teenagers.
Not long after, when a rogue Superman kills Donna, Young Justice is disbanded and Cassie temporarily gives up being a superhero, to upset and depressed to continue. She instead tries to please her mom and go to a normal school, but is so full of anger that Ares ends up reaching out to her, trying to convince her to be his champion. She refuses and is recruited by Starfire into the Teen Titans along with several others of her team. Despite her refusal, Ares gives her the Lasso of Lightning, which - when she is angry - channels the power of Zeus and can hurt - or even kill - others. Slowly dealing with her anger, she begins to develop an actual relationship with Superboy, and the two begin to date. As she learns that she is in reality the daughter of Zeus, Superboy learns his true origins as well, and they help each other deal with them. Her powers begin to weaken, and she learns that her father is the cause of it. When Superboy Prime beats her boyfriend almost to death, Cassie nurses him back to health and he takes her to Smallville where the two (finally) consummate their relationship.
Ares again appears to her and tells her that Zeus has been taking back her powers, leading him to offer his own if she agrees to become his champion and acknowledge him as her brother. She agrees and goes with Nightwing and Superboy to again fight Superboy Prime. Unfortunately, Conner is killed and dies in her arms. The Teen Titans fall apart and, as a result, Cassie does too, despondent in her grief. She tries, unsuccessfully, to resurrect Conner more than once, and after the Titans are reformed she rejoins for a time. Once more, she tries to bring back Superboy, this time with Tim's help, but they fail again and the two end up kissing, with Cassie then taking off, more than a bit freaked out.
During this time, she begins to have growing animosity against Diana, feeling abandoned by her, especially after she learns that Donna has been alive all this time. The next friend she loses to death is Bart Allen and she ends up swearing vengeance for his death, and starts to become much darker than she used to be. After she and Supergirl become embroiled in an Amazonian war, Cassie eventually realizes that she is a Titan at heart, not an Amazon, rejoining the team officially and kissing Robin a second time. The two of them then start to consider a relationship, but after their one date Cassie breaks things off, feeling that she's using him, and it causes some strife within the team.
Cassie begins to learn more about her Greek heritage and begins to work with her half brother Hercules, ending up in a fierce battle against the Furies. After that, she is attacked by her nephew Lycus who wishes to take her place as Ares' champion and her power. He does manage to steal the power given her by Ares, but Cassie discovers that she has innate powers of her own, and doesn't need to be given such by a god any longer. After Robin leaves the team to look for Bruce, Cassie reforms the Titans on her own.
At the moment, Cassie was finding it hard to concentrate on her Geology homework. It was normally her best class - thank you, Dr. mom - and she'd been acing it all semester so far. With finals only a week away, she barely even needed to study, but that didn't keep her from having to finish off her homework assignment. With a groan, she shoved her notebook off of her stomach and let it drop onto the floor, then slipped her hands beneath her head, staring up at the ceiling. She didn't know why she couldn't concentrate tonight - maybe it was just the fact that with everything in DC getting all crazy, people left and right were taking off - or worse, getting picked up by the President's new Task Force.
Sitting up after a few minutes, she glanced towards her open window, then stood and walked over to it. Cassie knew that her mother was worried about her, but a part of her knew that somehow, she'd be kept safe...even if she didn't want to be. What she wanted right now was to be out there helping people, but Cassie had a feeling that if she breathed a word of that around her mom, she'd be grounded - literally and figuratively - in a heartbeat.
The smell of marinara sauce hit her nose and she sniffed curiously, then smiled a little. Spaghetti. Comfort food, which meant her mom knew she was having doubts about keeping low right now. A moment later, she smelled the rich earthy scent of garlic, and her stomach gave a soft, answering grumble. Walking over to her dresser, she picked up her brush and gave it a quick drag through her hair, then made a face at herself. God, she needed a trim! With a shake of her head, Cassie walked back over to her bed and picked up her notebook, closing it and tossing it onto the covers before finally heading out of the bedroom and down the hall to the kitchen.
"Something smells good!" She chirped up while stepping in. Yep, spaghetti, so she was going to do everything she could to prove to her mom that everything was a-okay right now.
